Nassau Cricket Stadium- Deathbed For So-Called Modern T20 Batters

It was only a few days back when IPL was being played in India, and 250 runs were just a matter of joke for all the franchises throughout the tournament. Batsman was enjoying all sorts of luxuries there with those flat-track Indian pitches. Bowlers were seen asking for some relief from administrators to chalk out the impact player rule to give some room for ease to bowlers in post-match interviews constantly back in April & May.

However, with Cricket Going To Big Apple City ‘New York’ for the T20 World Cup 2024 things look to take an up-side turn with the entry of Nassau Cricket Stadium.

When ICC decided to take cricket to a global base according to their years-old global program, the USA (New York) was the best bet to take for this experiment of theirs, New York Is known as the ‘Capital City’ not just for the USA but for the entire world. This is because of the diverse population of people living in it, you can find supporters for all forms of culture and sports.

But it seems like This new Nassau Cricket Stadium Of USA is more of a demotion rather than a promotion For the ICC and its global program.

Transition Of Nassau Cricket Stadium From Feb To May 2024

The above image alone tells you how fast ICC managed to build this ‘Temporary’ stadium for the World Cup League matches, for this cause drop in pitches were installed in the stadium which was prepared in Australia and so far from what little we have seen it is sticking true to its nature. In the warmup match between India and Bangladesh, the uneven bounce of the pitch was quite evident, stroke play was difficult and slog shots had no chance to stand.

Batsmen were required to manufacture the shots on the back foot for some kind of success with the bat. The Outfield was also very slow which was confirmed by the Team India Head Coach Rahul Dravid In a presser.

Something that this generation of players hates to do, according to them an ideal T20 Match is when the bounce of the pitch allows them to slog the ball in the direction they want, but this Nassau Cricket Stadium is already telling us who can and who can’t bat with proper skill set which defines the modern day batsmen according to me.

From the Indian Cricket Team’s perspective, they have a mega clash against arch-rivals Pakistan On 9th June at the very same Nassau cricket stadium, the nature of the pitch tells us that this is not a walkover match for Team India, initial swing moment and hit the deck bounce can help Pakistan bowlers if they bowls first in that match. For India Virat Kohli holds the key for taking the side to the safer waters if they bat first on the given day.

India vs Pakistan On 9th June

The whole cricketing world will be glued to their TVs once this game starts which can start the undercurrent of this sport in the USA but the talking point will revolve around the playing conditions in Nassau cricket stadium.

According to me, this is exciting to watch because this is how real cricket takes shape instead of that slogging nonsense filth that sadly takes away the fight between bat and ball. only the brightest will survive and the strongest will thrive.
