Shikhar Dhawan is an Indian cricketer who has represented the Indian national team in international cricket. He was born on December 5, 1985, in Delhi, India. Dhawan is a left-handed opening batsman known for his aggressive and flamboyant batting style.

Dhawan made his international debut in 2010, representing India in One Day Internationals (ODIs). He gained prominence during the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy, where he emerged as the tournament’s leading run-scorer and played a crucial role in India’s victory. He scored a memorable century on his Test debut against Australia in 2013, becoming the first batsman to achieve this feat in over 100 years.

Throughout his career, Dhawan has been a consistent performer in limited-overs cricket. He has scored numerous centuries and played key innings for India in major tournaments like the ICC Cricket World Cup and ICC T20 World Cup. Dhawan is known for his ability to score runs quickly and dominate the opposition’s bowling attack.

In addition to his success in international cricket, Dhawan has also been a prominent figure in domestic cricket in India. He has represented Delhi in domestic tournaments and has been a valuable contributor to their success.

A left-handed opening batsman, he plays for Delhi in first class cricket. At the 2013 Champions Trophy, 2015 World Cup and 2017 Champions Trophy, Dhawan was the leading run – scorer for India. He is currently captain of Punjab Kings in Indian Premier League. He has also some good records in IPL, he became the first player in the history of IPL to score two back – to – back centuries. Likewise, he was awarded as the “Player of the tournament” for his exploits in the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy, which he won with his national side. He also named as player of the tournament in 2018 Asia Cup.

She is 12 year older than Dhawan and was a mother of two daughters, from her previous marriage. In December 2014, she gave birth to a son named Zoraver. Dhawan also adopted Aesha’s daughters Aliyah and Rhea. Dhawan and Aesha ended their marriage in September.

Brad Hogg echoed the sentiment while speaking about Dhawan’s omission from the team on his YouTube channel, Hogg said:

“Shikhar Dhawan could be a little bit unlucky here, he started to really come off age, and he improved his strike rate for the last couple of months. But I just think that he is a little bit too slow with the way that the T20 format has moved along.”

Shikhar Dhawan played a vital role for India in ICC Tournament. But he is not able to stake a claim when it comes to the biggest stage in the T20 format.

Gill has been in sublime form in all three formats this season, with the 23-year-old virtually securing his place in the side for the ODI World Cup in India later this year, even as Dhawan finds himself out of favour due to a dip in form.

The young cricketer’s form has seen him score centuries in all three formats this year, including an ODI double ton against New Zealand and a century against Australia in the drawn fourth Test at Ahmedabad.

Dhawan, a veteran of 167 ODI, who would still be eyeing a place in the India side for the ODI World Cup at home, said had he been the selector, he would pick Gill over himself based on current form.
